Grace Lavery

Grace Lavery is an associate professor of English at the University of California, and general editor of Transgender Studies Quarterly. Her first book, Quaint, Exquisite: Victorian Aesthetics and the Idea of Japan, was published by Princeton University Press in 2019, and her essays have appeared in Critical Inquiry, differences, ELH, TSQ, and elsewhere. She writes for public readerships on trans culture and politics, in which capacity she has been published by the Guardian, Gay Magazine, Catapult, Vice, Autostraddle, and elsewhere. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, no pets, and no children.
