This flurry of chilling crimes has almost become a regular feature in the two city, said cops.
Police said such crimes are not confined to a socio-economic background and said that the ‘accumulated stress’ of procuring love at their own terms, with easy availability of fire-arms thrown into the mix, more often than not leads to disaster.
Mental health specialists said that there was an alarming increase in the cases coming in from various strata of society relating to impulse control. “The problem in such cases is that the lover starts viewing the other as a possession. A healthy amount of space and empathy is the prime characteristic of any good relationship,” said Sameer Malhotra, HOD of mental health and behavioural sciences at Max Healthcare. Malhotra agreed that the easy availability of arms and the increasing depictions of violence across different media had an enormous impact upon the same.
